1Who runs Walkably
Walkably (walkably.org) is run by Raian Pollock, a private person in Spain. This is the legal notice that Spanish law (Ley 34/2002, article 10) asks every website with an economic activity to show.
- Name: Raian Pollock

Walkably is not listed in a company register.
2Privacy
You can use Walkably without an account. The site shows no ads and sets no cookies. We don't build a profile of you, and we don't sell data about you.
Some data still moves when you use the site, because a web page can't load without it. Here is all of it.
Who is responsible
Raian Pollock is responsible for your data on this site (the "controller" in the EU's data protection law, the GDPR). Write to [email protected] about anything on this page.
What is sent, to whom and why
- Loading the site. Cloudflare hosts the site and the score data. To send you the pages and to block attacks, Cloudflare handles your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for. We see only total numbers, such as visits per day, never a list of visitors. The reason: our legitimate interest in running a working, safe site (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).
- Searching for an address. What you type in the search box goes from your browser to Photon, a place search run by Komoot GmbH in Germany, so it can find the place. Komoot receives the text and your IP address. See Komoot's privacy policy. Same reason as above.
- The map background. Your browser loads the map images from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), which receives your IP address. See OpenFreeMap's privacy page. Same reason as above.
- Counting visits. To learn which pages and map features people use, each page sends PostHog the page you view, the clicks you make on it, how fast it loaded, the site you came from and your browser type. PostHog stores this on servers in the EU and does not store your IP address. Nothing is saved in your browser, so each page visit counts on its own, and we never see who you are. We never send the addresses you search or the exact spot you click. The reason: our legitimate interest in improving the site (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). A content blocker in your browser stops it. See PostHog's privacy policy.
- Writing to us. If you email [email protected], we keep your message and address to answer you. Google (Google Workspace) hosts the mailbox. The reason: you asked us something (GDPR article 6(1)(b) and (f)). We delete messages when they are no longer needed, and at the latest after two years.
What stays in your browser
When you close the short introduction on the map, your browser saves one small note (named we-intro) so the introduction doesn't come back. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser.
Data outside the EU
Cloudflare, Google and PostHog are US companies; PostHog keeps our data on its EU servers. Cloudflare and Google take part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and also use the EU's standard contract clauses for data that leaves the EU.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to limit its use, or object to it. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the AEPD, or to the authority in your own country.
3Terms of use
By using walkably.org you accept these terms.
Free to use
Anyone can use the map and the city pages on this site for free. To use the scores in a product, an app or research, write to [email protected].
The scores are estimates
Each score is calculated from open data, mostly OpenStreetMap, and that data can be missing or out of date. A score can be wrong for a street or a building. Please don't base an important decision, such as buying or renting a home, on the score alone. As far as the law allows, the site comes without any guarantee, and we are not liable for decisions made using it. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
Don't overload the service
Please don't use scripts or bots to copy the site or the map in bulk, or send so many requests that the service slows down for others. We may block traffic that does this.
The open data stays open
The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. The scores are built from it, and both are available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Anyone may use and share that data if they credit the source and share changes under the same licence. A full, free copy of the score data is the map file at data.walkably.org. Nothing on this page limits your rights under that licence.
Credit
If you show a score or a picture of the map, please credit "Walkably" and "© OpenStreetMap contributors".
What belongs to us
The text, design, code and method of this site are © 2026 Raian Pollock, and the name Walkably is his too.
Law
These terms follow Spanish law. If you live in another EU country as a consumer, you keep the protection of your own country's law.
